The Parks
Liz and Richard Parks, with thier kids Matt & Katrina

Richard grew up in Seattle and visited his aunt & uncle's blueberry farm in Sequim as a child. After graduating from the University of Washington in 1975 with degrees in Marine Biology and Oceanography he ventured into the world, finally accepting a job at Miami's Seaquarium.

He pursued remodeling in Miami as a moonlighting venture. In 1979 Richard founded his own contracting business there and turned his creative powers to design and building full time.

Richard holds a General Contractor license in the State of Florida, and Peninsula Properties is a licensed contractor in the State of Washington. Unlike Washington, the State of Florida requires contractors to have a Bachelor's degree plus an additional 68 hours of specific courses in construction law, accounting, engineering and estimating prior to taking a 16 hour exam. Once you receive your license 8 hours of continuing education is required annually to maintain the license.

Contracting and the construction industry are regarded as a serious economic business with public safety and fiscal responsibility as key components to its success.

Liz grew up in Kingston, Jamaica. She studied office management under the British education system. She migrated to Miami in 1970 and became a U.S. citizen in 1976. Her adventurous spirit took her on a road trip to Alaska, where she and friends built a cabin. Liz's return trip took her through the Inside Passage and into Seattle. She knew then that she belonged in the Pacific Northwest.

We have been married since March 1983 and have two wonderful children, Matthew and Katrina.

As Miami became a less desirable place to live and raise children to us, Liz's desire to live in the Pacific Northwest and my fond memories of Sequim called us home. After about three years of research and preparations we sold our business in Miami, moved to Sequim, and are happy to be your neighbors.
